Analytics - How?
When investing in your business with a Website, many business owners then focus on the "nuts and bolts" of the business, while letting their Website do it's job!

However, if you are promoting a product range, a new release, or advertising your website to "increase your digital footprint" (increase your website's digital presence on the internet) - then, you should also be using Analytics to improve your Profits!



Analytics measures your marketing endevours to gauge success of the investment.
Google Analytics is an extremely useful tool and you would be well advised to incorporate this into your weekly overview of your website and business checks.

Google analytics can give you a breakdown of important factors such as: how many visits to your site daily and monthly (and how many visitors!) , where the traffic came from in the world, how the traffic navigated to your site (direct or through search engines etc) , also which pages were viewed on the visits and for how long.

This is just one view of the many reports shown on a simple dashboard covering the basic 4 criteria.
A regular report may be customized to give you more specific information for your actual business needs.

Details on what to spend on marketing and a measure of the results is usually hard to gauge (apart from actual sales) but not all marketing plans result in an immediate sale. With analytics, if you have just released a promotion, you can measure the increase in number of visits, and how many visitors stayed to look around your site.
If you achieve little increase in the site traffic, you may decide, for instance, not to spend your valuable marketing dollar in that particular promotion type again, and look for a new approach.

Defining your market would be easier with "country of origin" for searches which is also available as a standard graph report.
If many visitors simply find your site but leave, then they were either lost or did not find what they were looking for in your first page of entry, and so, may necessitate an upgrade or redesign of your website (to grab those visitors when they are searching your site the first time).

Analytics will also allow you to understand if your customers find any pages difficult to navigate, and give up - as they will exit from the page regularly.

This will also highlight an area of lost opportunity to gain customers confidence and call to action, before they get frustrated, confused and exit.

It would be unprofessional not to to measure a major investment in your business with things like income /sales reports and the same applies to your websites performance -Analytics is a comprehensive sales report of your website!
